What is Art?

Art is the creation of something unique for viewers to Think/Understand. Think about what the artist was feeling, the overall message of the artwork, and the emotions. The medium of the artwork could be anything. Clay, Fabric, Paint, Marker, and anything else you can think of. One could argue that some artworks in museums are not in fact art. The Fountain by Marcel Duchamp is a prime example of this argument. The sculpture is of a urinal on its back with Marcel’s signature on it. He thought of the idea and executed it, it was something no one had ever seen before. Which proves my point that it is art. He made people question art, which is what art should provoke. If art does not make the viewer or the artist feel, then it is not art.
